2026-01-09
Xinhua News Agency, Wuzhou, Guangxi, December 19th (Zhang Guangquan) The 22nd Wuzhou Gem Festival opened in Wuzhou, Guangxi on the 19th. Yu Zhibin, the president of the China Gem and Jade Jewelry Association, said in his speech that currently, the demand for jewelry in China is undergoing a profound transformation from "ownership" to "self-enjoyment" and "expression". The new consumption forces emerging from the demand side are reshaping the growth momentum of the market.
Ye Zhibin introduced that in the past year, the Chinese jewelry market demonstrated strong resilience in a complex environment. Consumption, imports and exports, as well as e-commerce, all achieved steady growth, with the scale exceeding that of the same period in history. Design products with rich cultural connotations, fashionable jewelry that meets the individualized needs of young consumers, as well as cultivated diamonds and artificial gemstones empowered by technology, are becoming new drivers for market growth.
Technological and conceptual changes are profoundly influencing the future of industries. Ye Zhibin pointed out that currently, in the design, production and sales processes, artificial intelligence technology can shorten the design cycle from several months to several hours, 3D printing makes it possible to form complex structures in one go, and cross-border e-commerce enables Wuzhou gemstones to reach Southeast Asian consumers within 48 hours. Moreover, the ESG (Environment, Society and Governance) concept is increasingly gaining popularity, and is driving the entire industry towards a green and low-carbon direction of transformation.
Wuzhou is known as the "World Capital of Artificial Gemstones", with its production of artificial gemstones accounting for approximately 70% of the global output. The products are sold in over 100 countries around the world. Currently, there are over 400 gemstone enterprises in Wuzhou that have established stable cooperative relationships with the jewelry markets of ASEAN countries such as Vietnam and Thailand. Many global jewelry industry buyers and international fashion brands have set up offices here.
This year's Gem Festival saw the signing of 16 projects, with a total investment exceeding 2.3 billion yuan. (End)
